    In 2000, XCAST (Explicit Multi-Unicast) was first proposed as a protocol intended for small group multicasting. It combined three similar datagram simulcasting protocols that were submitted as earlier Internet Drafts by a number of different research groups. After that, researchers in those groups worked together to further develop, experiment and conduct standardization in IETF as well as in the open source community. This resulted in several implementations of protocol stacks, systems of multi-party video conference and group management, and mechanisms for harmonizing XCAST with ASM and SSM. In addition, an XCAST backbone for various experiments has been launched to operate inter-continentally. One of the main purposes of this document is to summarize the efforts undertaken by XCAST community as "best current practices" that would then be formally introduced to the IETF/IRTF community. In addition, we raise an issue concerning IANA resource allocation, which prevents us from widely expanding our experimental networks as well as distributing our software. Finally, we request IESG and other experts to check the validity of our proposed protocol and make any suggestions about how IANA can assign appropriate resources accordingly.

    This document describes a framework for the interaction between users and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) based applications. By interacting with applications, users can guide the way in which they operate. The focus of this framework is stimulus signaling, which allows a user agent to interact with an application without knowledge of the semantics of that application. Stimulus signaling can occur to a user interface running locally with the client, or to a remote user interface, through media streams. Stimulus signaling encompasses a wide range of mechanisms, ranging from clicking on hyperlinks, to pressing buttons, to traditional Dual Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF) input. In all cases, stimulus signaling is supported through the use of markup languages, which play a key role in this framework.

    PANA (Protocol for carrying Authentication for Network Access) is a protocol for authenticating clients to the access network using IP based protocols. The PANA protocol authenticates the client and also establishes a PANA security association between the PANA client and PANA authentication agent at the end of a successful authentication. This document discusses the details for establishing an IPsec security association using the PANA security association for enabling IPsec based access control.

    This memo describes a proposal for exchanging QoS-enabled reachability information between service providers. It defines new BGP attributes to be used in order to convey QoS performance characteristics between service providers and it describes how to use these QoS values in order to select the best path. An example of route selection process that takes into account the QoS performance values enclosed in BGP messages is also detailed.
